Michelle Wedderburn is a community builder, nurturer, and visionary dedicated to creating spaces where people feel truly seen, supported, and valued. As the founder of Casa ELM and now Hacienda ELM, Michelle has spent years turning a calling into a reality — offering more than just homes, but sanctuaries for those in need of belonging and care.
Hacienda ELM is her latest labor of love: an all-inclusive, full-time community designed for adults 60+ who seek to age not just gracefully, but gratefully — surrounded by nature, walking trails, safety, and compassionate support. Located just 10 minutes from the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Hacienda ELM reflects Michelle’s unwavering commitment to creating environments where connection thrives and dignity is honored.
For Michelle, this work is personal. She believes aging should never mean isolation. Her mission is to ensure that those who have given so much in their lives now have a place where they are cared for, respected, and embraced — every single day.

What type of care is provided at Hacienda ELM?Hacienda ELM is a supported independent living community for adults aged 60 and over. We offer fresh daily meals, wellness programs, and engaging community activities—all designed to promote a vibrant and connected lifestyle. Our trained staff and on-call doctor are available 24/7 to provide peace of mind and basic support with daily living needs. Please note: we are not a nursing home or medical facility and do not offer hospice care or specialized support for Alzheimer’s or severe disabilities. Our focus is on helping older adults live with dignity, connection, and comfort—without the isolation that often comes with aging alone.

Is medical support available on-site?We will have on-site assistance trained to manage situations in case of an emergency. Our team will be able to contact one of our two on-call doctors as needed and coordinate with local emergency services when appropriate. While we do not provide or administer medical treatments on-site, we are committed to ensuring prompt support by connecting residents with licensed medical professionals in the event of an emergency.

Can family members visit?Yes! Family visits are encouraged. Families are welcome to attend events and celebrations. For those who live farther away, we offer scheduled video sessions to keep everyone connected.

What types of activities will residents enjoy?We provide a wide range of activities focused on mental stimulation, memory care, and physical wellness. This includes fitness classes, art workshops, social gatherings, cultural outings, and special events.

Is transportation provided for residents?Yes. We offer scheduled transportation for doctor’s appointments, group excursions, errands, and community events. Our goal is to keep residents active and connected to the greater San Miguel de Allende area. (Listed transportation is included and scheduled. Special individual requests will be the responsibility of the resident, but can be arranged with our drivers at an additional cost).

Who is eligible to live at Hacienda ELM?Hacienda ELM welcomes residents of all backgrounds, provided they are aged 60 or older and do not require intensive medical or memory care.

What are the accommodations like?Residents enjoy private suites with private bathrooms and access to beautiful shared spaces, gardens, walking trails, and recreational areas. Our community is designed for both privacy and connection.
